Bentley Car

Bentley is a private automobile company manufactured by Britishers in the year 1919. Bentley's founder was Walter Owen Bentley after whom it is named. Bentley has its head quarters at Crewe and Cheshire in United kingdom. Bentley are known for its rotary aero engines being the Bentley BRI with later divisions of Sopwith Camel.

Bentley used the light weight cast iron to make pistons in its beginning stage. In 1930 the biggest competitor of Bentley was Bugatti which had the features of light weight, elegant looks but Bentley continued to mark its high performance reputation alive by maintaining its reliability and durability. From 1931 to 1998 came the Rolls-Royce era where due to great depression the company was sold to Rolls-Royce. The new Bentley 3.5 litre was introduced which was a sporting modification of Rolls-Royce20/25.

Bentley was bought by Vickers plc and thus Bentley started regaining its popularity in 1980 by introducing Bentley Mulsanne recapturing its sporty image and increasing market demand. The new range of V8 engines were used for Bentley Arnage and V12 engines for Rolls-Royce silver Seraph after the bidding war between Vickers and BMW. After negotiations between BMW and Volkswagen group which is a German manufacturer, it was determined that Volkswagen will manufacture both Bentley and Rolls-Royce till the end of 2002. It was also in the same year that Bentley gifted Queen Elizabeth II with State Limousine to celebrate the Golden Jubilee. Bentley produced a W12 engine Bentley Continental GT which is a luxury coupe. In 2009, Bentley introduced the Continental Super sports which has a combination of environmental friendly extreme power and Flex fuel technology with distinct exterior and interior designing. Bentley are very popular car and are known for their mark in films like The Thomas Crown Affair, The Punisher, Rushmore and The Hangover. Currently the management of Bentley is with Wolfgang Durheimer who is the Chairman and Chief Executive. The future of Bentley is rumoured to have a SUV style and diesel variants and hybrid technology which is the main point as the trend towards the hybrid cars are expanding quickly.

Modifications in the Continental Supersportsand second generation series of Continental platform like GT, GTC and flying Spur are in the line for making. It’s been 90 years and the Bentley flagship has remained the same with characteristics like record breaking feats, daring exploits and beautifully engineered cars which makes driving easy on roads.
