Chevrolet Cruze car is manufactured by General Motors which is a subcompact crossover SUV. Under the joint venture with GM, Suzuki manufactured the first series in Japan and the second series was entirely manufactured by GM. Chevrolet Cruze was named as Holden Cruze in Australia and Daewoo Lacetti Premiere in South Korea. The Cruze departed from the original five-door hatchback Suzuki as a sport utility vehicle (SUV), using either the front or all-wheel drive layout. GM started the production of Chevrolet Cruze in 2001, with Japanese sales commencing the following month. The Cruze was also sold in Australia from 2002 to 2006 as the Holden Cruze. Suzuki began manufacturing the Cruze as the Suzuki Ignis—representing a facelift of the original Ignis, from 2003.


In 2008, GM introduced the Cruze compact car, with J300 internal designation as a replacement for the Chevrolet Cobalt and Daewoo Lacetti which are both unrelated cars. Chevrolet Cruze had its production sites at South Korea, Russia, China, India and Thailand. GM in the United States has extensively upgraded its existing plant facility to manufacture the Cruze. Chevrolet Cruze is GM’s most significant new vehicle introduction in North America since the Chapter 11 reorganization in 2009. It is GM's latest attempt to build a small size car that North American consumers. The development program occurred under a global design and engineering team which GM has confirmed.

Most of the design work was held by GM Daewoo, with GM's Opel division responsible for most of the engineering. In May 2009, The Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) awarded the Cruze a full five stars in their independent crash safety test, with 35.04 out of a possible 37 points and the China New Car Assessment Program (C-NCAP) awarded the Cruze a maximum five stars in their independent crash safety test. The Cruze received the highest possible ratings in front, side, rear and rollover crash protection tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), which has recognized the Cruze as a 2011 Top Safety Pick in the United States. The first vehicle to use GM's revamped Delta 2 platform is the Chevrolet Cruze, which is an architecture that is also used on other GM small cars around the globe, including replacements for the Chevrolet HHR, Opel Zafira and other related cars. Chevrolet Cruze is available in three variants: Chevrolet Cruze LT , Chevrolet Cruze LTZ and Chevrolet Cruze LTZ AT. Chevrolet Cruze is close rival of Skoda Laura, Volkswagen Jetta, Toyota Corolla Altis, Hyundai Sonata Transform & Honda Accord and likely to beat their markets.
