HUMMER Car

Hummer is an automobile company founded in 1992 and was branded for the marketing of trucks and SUVs By AM General which sold the first civilian version M998 Humvee. Hummer produced three vehicles Hummer1, Hummer2 and Hummer3 when it was purchased by General Motors in 1998. Hummer brand was to be acquired by Chinese automaker but failing the government approval withdrew the bid. General motors approached with new offers for Hummer after the rejection of the deal with Chinese automaker. General Motors also decided dismantling of the Hummer brand in 2010.

The first Hummer model Hum-vee was manufactured with a variety of military based components and equipment under a contract for US armed forces which producing 55000 Humvees which increased to 15000 additional vehicles. AM general motors then made a civilian version of Hum-vee which had automotive gloss paint, adding passenger car enhancements, air condition, sound insulation, upgraded upholstery, stereo systems, wood trim. Hummer's model Hum-vee was driven from London to Beijing on the rough roads, this trip was even broadcasted in U.S and hummer made the trip much easier. Hummer received much publicity for the contribution of Hum-vee in Gulf War and Desert storm.

Hummer later modified Hum-vee into snow-vee with addition of caterpillar tracks, a new compartment and a new engine which was used in Arctic circle and Antartica. Hummer models came in low range transfer case, relatively high ground clearance and off road tires. Hummer1 was based on Hum-vee and was the first hummer vehicle released in 1992 designed by American Motors AM General subsidiary for U.S military. Hummer2 came with two variations H2 SUV and H2 SUT and was the second vehicle in hummer range. Hummer3 shared the GMT355 platform shared with Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon compact was the smallest of all Hummer models. Hummer HX is an open air, two door off-road concept car smaller than other Hummer models in 2008.

Hummer used the extended range electric vehicle technology where the hummer plug-in hybrid run upto 40 miles per day on its battery alone after which a small 4 cylinder internal combustion engine would start to generate more electricity. Hummer created its road racing team in 1993 and showcased the Hummers ability with Rod Hall which featured production based vehicles with stock frames, stock suspension designs and production based engines. Special racing shock absorbers, tires and other minor modifications are allowed along with safety equipment. The latest Hummer models that hit the roads are Hummer H3 SUV and Hummer H3T.
