Mitsubishi Motors manufactured a family car Mitsubishi Lancer which was known by different names in different countries. It was also known by the following names such as Colt Lancer, Dodge/Plymouth Colt, Chrysler Valiant Lancer, Chrysler Lancer, Eagle Summit, Hindustan Lancer, Soueast Lioncel, Mitsubishi Carisma, and Mitsubishi Mirage. The First generation was first launched in 1973 with three body styles, two- and four-door sedans and a long-running five-door station wagon. The Second generation was unveiled in Japan in 1979 and the Third generation was launched as Lancer Fiore in 1982. The fourth generation was launched in 1983 with the latest in computer control engine technology including an electronic fuel injection for its high performance. The Fifth generation was an aerodynamic-looking Lancer launched in 1988. The Sixth generation was launched in 1991 where there was a greater differentiation between the Mirage and Lancer. The Seventh generation was launched in 1995 where a sedan and wagon were offered, with a related Mirage model. The Eighth generation was launched as Lancer Cedia in Japan in 2000 and was available in sedan and station wagon forms.

The ninth generation revealed the Concept-X model car at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2005. The current Mitsubishi Lancer is a luxurious sedan model which is packed with an array of advanced features, loaded with lots of styling features at both exteriors and interiors of the car. It is available in two variants one with petrol engine and another one are packed with diesel engine. The exterior of Mitsubishi Lancer has sporty headlamps, body colored bumper, body colored door handles and ORVMs, bold and aggressive vertical front grille.

The interior features of Mitsubishi Lancer include dual tone dashboard, advanced instrument cluster, fabric upholstery, leather covered steering wheel and adjustable, comfortable seats with armrests. It has safety features such as dual side impact bars, three stage crumple zones, collapsible steering column, three point ELS seat belts, and centrally mounted fuel tanks. Mitsubishi Lancer has its competition with Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Verna, Cheverolet Optra, Maruti Dzire and Tata Indigo. Mitsubishi Lancer is solid build, rally tested technology, smooth transmission and fuel economy and has gone through wax injections, which had improved as a resistance to body corrosion in rust prone areas. It is a car with innovative technology combined with economy.
