Saab Car

Saab is a Swedish brand of automobiles that is now 100% owned by American car group General Motors. The company was established in the 1940’s as the car division of a Swedish airplane company named SAAB (Svenska Aeroplan AktieBolaget) that began to seek new business opportunities and markets at the time after the World War II. Saab is known for innovation, pioneering significant advancements in ergonomics, green technology, safety and turbocharging. Originally the automobile manufacturing division of Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget, later known as Saab AB, Saab Automobile was acquired by General Motors in 1990 who sold it to Spyker Cars on January 26, 2010.

Saab’s first passenger car was released in 1947 – the Saab 92 whose design and engineering evolved from the company's aviation experience. Its automobile operations became a division of Saab-Scania AB following the 1969 merger of Saab AB and Scania-Vabis AB, a maker of trucks, buses, and diesel engines. Saab Automobile AB was officially formed in 1990 when General Motors Corporation purchased 50 percent of Saab-Scania's passenger car business. Saab has 9-5 and 9-3 models which are built in Trollhattan, its headquarters located in Sweden. The largest markets for Saab automobiles are the United States, Western Europe, Australia, Japan, Canada, and Taiwan. Saab began as an aircraft manufacturer, then launched automobile production in 1949. The 9-3 Cabriolet is made by Magna Steyr in raz, Austria. Production of Saab 9-5 was planned to be produced in its Opel factory in Ruesselsheim, Germany, in 2009.

There are also plans for new 9-5 and 9-3 models and a 9-4 sports utility vehicle. Saab is looking forward to the development of Bio fuel efficient cars and the company has a great record in terms of introduction of technology in cars and will continue to advance its technology in cars for the future of a prosperous Saab Motor Company. The current Saab models are:Saab 9-3 SportSedan, Saab 9-3 Convertible, Saab 9-3 SportCombi,Saab 9-3X, Saab 9-5 Sedan.

The Saab PhoeniX concept represents the reborn of a brand and its new look at the future. The PhoeniX is a hybrid vehicle that combines an efficient, 1.6-liter turbo engine with electric rear wheel drive technology. Saab announced the debut of its 9-5 SportWagon. The new version features the same dynamic looks of the 9-5 saloon and adds to it extended capacities. With this version of the 9-5, Saab entered a new competitor in the premium large estate segment.
